Painted over an incomplete and abandoned self-portrait from 2011, this work did not begin as a self-portrait, but rather as a response to the year that was 2020; focusing more on the when, what, and how, than the who.
.
During the 12 months this canvas was reworked, the painting, much like our day to day lives, started and stopped on multiple occasions, capturing the conflict and consumption, alongside the anxiety and tension, of both a challenging and uncertain, yet transformational period.

The Ramble suite consists of 4 constructions, each 60 x 60cm, mounted on birch board, combining text and found materials, such as off cuts of wood, skull tops and paint lids, alongside collaged “contemporary leftovers” from the studio created a playful and colourful combination.
