For Ukraine’s Independence Day 2026, I’m launching an international art flash mob, My Ukrainian Heart, and I invite you to join in.

My goal is to bring together 500 Ukrainian Hearts around the world by 24 August 2026 and create a visible wave of support for Ukraine.

How to join:

Today was a very special evening — I had the opportunity to visit ABC Radio Hobart (Evenings with John O'Hara) and talk about my new bilingual colouring book, Ukrainian Symbols / Українські Символи. 🎙️🇺🇦🇦🇺
Thank you so much John and Isabel for inviting me to this interview!

We spoke about why I wanted to create a book around Ukrainian symbols, the stories and meanings behind them, the importance of keeping culture and language alive for children growing up far from Ukraine, and how art can help connect generations.

The book introduces children and families to 30 Ukrainian symbols, with their meanings in both English and Ukrainian, through colouring and Samchykivka-inspired art.

For me, this project is about more than colouring. It is about culture, memory, language, family and connection — and about giving Australian families an accessible way to discover a little more about Ukraine too.

Q: How many birds you can spot on the illustrations? 🐦
While working on my new colouring book for children, I noticed something lovely — little hidden birds seem to appear inside some of the designs.
I didn't put them there on purpose )
They just... appeared, the way little surprises do when you draw by hand. And now I love the idea of leaving them in on purpose — a tiny secret for curious eyes to find. 👀
I think children will have so much fun searching for them page by page. 😉

P.S. I plan this book won't be just illustrations to colour. So each symbol will come with a little explanation of its meaning — so you and your child can discover together what a bird, a flower, or an ornament truly represents in Ukrainian culture. 🌻

🌸 Join me 11 Tue 2026 for a colourful acrylic painting workshop inspired by Samchykivka folk art — a vibrant Ukrainian painting tradition filled with expressive flowers, flowing brushstrokes and joyful colour.

Our workshop theme is:

🌸 Mallow–Hollyhock and the Bloom of Wellbeing 🌸

Together, we will explore this beautiful folk-art style and create a bright floral artwork in a welcoming, creative atmosphere. No previous painting experience is needed.
