The winner SeaNic Sounds, received an artist development package from Pacific International Music including the writing, recording, mixing and mastering of a professional EP worth over $10,000. All finalists were also interviewed live on commercial radio as well as had the opportunity to play on Sea FM’s Friday Morning Live Sesh. DATES: The entry deadline for the 2013 Hervey Bay Unplugged Contest is August the 31st 2013.
1. All contestants must submit an entry form. THE CONTEST IS LIMITED TO THE FIRST 40 ENTRIES RECEIVED BASED ON POSTMARK OR DATE GIVEN TO A HOOLIHANS IRISH RESTAURANT AND BAR MANAGEMENT. Entry forms may be given to one of the managers at Hoolihans Irish Restaurant and Bar NO LATER THAN THE 31ST OF AUGUST.
2. Heats are limited to 10 entrants each. Entrants will be scheduled to perform at one of the four Heat Nights. Each act must perform a minimum of 3 songs with a maximum of 5 songs, either original or covers. The top scoring performers will advance to the finals. Entrants who cancel or fail to appear at the Heat forfeit their chance to be in the Contest and also forfeit the $10 entry fee.
3. The Contest is limited to vocal and acoustic instrumental music only.Hoolihans Irish Restaurant and Bar will provide sound reinforcement, PA, lighting and basic effects. Electric guitars or bass, drums or Pitch correctors/shifters or vocal enhancement pedals are not permitted. Due to stage restrictions a piano will not be provided. A keyboard on ACOUSTIC SETTINGS may be used but must be set up and sound checked between 5pm and 5:30pm on the Wednesday of each heat prior to the act performing. Jazz, gospel, folk, country, ethnic, rock and other types of music are encouraged.
4. No individual may perform more than once or as part of more than one act at any one particular Heat. If you are in multiple acts we will spread your acts over the 4 week period. Members of the judge’s panel and associated sponsors are excluded from entering. Any acts that have a current exclusive distribution deal or current exclusive recording deal are not permitted to enter the competition.
5. All individuals are responsible for their own equipment and safety at all times. Entrants under the age of 18 will at all times be accompanied by a parent/guardian. AT NO TIME ARE ENTRANTS UNDER THE AGE OF 18 PERMITTED TO PURCHASE OR BE SUPPLIED ALCOHOL. TO DO SO WILL SEE YOU DISQUALIFIED IMMEDIATELY AND EJECTED FROM THE PREMISES.
6. Each act will have up to 20 minutes to perform no more than five songs. Any set-up time will be considered part of an entrant’s given time. Time limits will be strictly enforced.
7. Entrants will be judged on vocal/instrumental technique, originality/tradition/variation of covers, stage presence, audience response, and general entertainment value.
8. The decision of the judges will be final.
9. Finalists will be notified by September the 27th.
10.All applicants agree to be photographed, interviewed and recorded for the sole use of Hervey Bay Unplugged and its affiliate sponsors/partners.
11. By entering Hervey Bay Unplugged the artist agrees to promote the event via social media wherever possible
The winner will be announced at the end of the Talent Contest. Acoustic solo and duo competition held from 7:30pm Wednesday nights from the 4th of September for 6 weeks. FIRST HEAT: SEPT 4
