I often get comments like: "your setups must take forever!!"..and they're definitely correct, yes they do π
But the goal isn't just to create beautiful trays, the goal is to create an environment rich in opportunities β¨
Opportunities to create, experiment, move, connect, problem solve, regulate, imagine, observe and belonggggg!
Every station is intentionally designed with different interests, developmental stages and play schemas in mind. Not so children will all do the same thing, but because they won't!
The child making potions.
The child collecting shells.
The child climbing the playground.
The child quietly reading in the teepee.
The child carefully arranging every animal.
The child turning a whisk and discovering gears.
β¨ They're all learning β¨
One of my favourite things about child-led play is that two children can visit the exact same station and have completely different experiences, because there's no right way to play π
The theme might change each week, the philosophy doesn't.
Trust. The. Play.
