I often get comments like: "your setups must take forever!!"..and they're definitely correct, yes they do 😅

But the goal isn't just to create beautiful trays, the goal is to create an environment rich in opportunities ✨

Opportunities to create, experiment, move, connect, problem solve, regulate, imagine, observe and belonggggg!

Every station is intentionally designed with different interests, developmental stages and play schemas in mind. Not so children will all do the same thing, but because they won't!

The child making potions.
The child collecting shells.
The child climbing the playground.
The child quietly reading in the teepee.
The child carefully arranging every animal.
The child turning a whisk and discovering gears.

✨ They're all learning ✨

One of my favourite things about child-led play is that two children can visit the exact same station and have completely different experiences, because there's no right way to play 💚

The theme might change each week, the philosophy doesn't.

Some events are about more than just play 💚

Once again, we're bringing together an incredible group of local businesses for a morning of sensory play, creativity and connection, all while raising funds for the Remote Op Shop Project 🥹

Expect all the things your little ones love:
🌿 sensory play
🎨 art experiences
🪵 loose parts
💚 nature & messy play invitations
🤎 a beautiful community atmosphere

There'll be a raffle on the day, with funds helping support the amazing work of the Remote Op Shop Project!

School holidays are almost here 👀👀👀

If your little ones love mud, water, nature, creativity, and the freedom to play at their own pace, we'd love to see you at Mud Buddies these holidays!

We'll be digging, splashing, creating, exploring, and making the most of winter outdoors through a range of open-ended, nature-based play invitations 💚

Designed with children aged 0-5 in mind, with older siblings welcome to join in!

one of the biggest things I've learnt since becoming a parent is that sometimes the hardest part isn't managing my child's risk, it's managing my own dang discomfort 🤪

if we're honest, a lot of the things we worry about aren't technically dangerous. they're messy, unpredictable, loud, and inconvenient.

and quite often they're things we were taught to avoid as children ourselves 👀

Genuine risk of course exists, but the next time your child sits in a puddle and gets soaking wet in the carpark, or tips all of the hotwheels on the floor, ask yourself before you react:

am I responding to genuine danger? or am I responding to fear, habit, judgement, discomfort or outdated advice? 👀

Is it dangerous... Or just inconvenient? ✨

because there is such a difference Mama and it's so, so freeing to realise that, I promise.

A slower Saturday morning. Muddy hands, tiny watering cans, digging, planting, exploring and connecting with community 💚

This one’s a little different to our usual sessions, less elaborate setup, more simple play, garden wandering and good company ✨

We’ll have toddler-friendly activities scattered through the garden, plus plenty of space for little ones to move at their own pace while grown-ups chat and connect 💚

The Ballajura Community Garden crew will also be running a sausage sizzle, so come support an amazing local community space 🌭✨
