Colours Of A Hidden Disability

Colours Of A Hidden Disability Australian farmer and artist with a hidden disability, Functional Neurological Disorder(FND).

A brain disorder that affects how the brain is accessing or controlling movement and perception. As a self-taught artist, I don't restrict myself to media and styles but as you'll see from my work I have a passion for watercolours. I enjoy painting all aspects of life and find myself constantly inspired by our farm in North Central Victoria and the beauty of the Australian landscape.

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

With each artwork I try to find meaning or a feeling I have while completing it. In this case it’s more of a memory of Pop’s garden. Looking out at the splash of colour in white tyre swans each spring and him listening to Charley Pride.

“No ordinary orchid.” Some days, life can feel ordinary, and we feel like we’re nothing special, but the truth is… You are not ordinary. There is no story like yours. No one else is exactly like you or has lived your life. You are unique, and you are something and someone special.

This artwork was inspired by a beautiful Ribbon Bush (Hypoestes aristata) in the local nursery. It’s beautiful purple flowers a reminder of our coastal life in Queensland.
