Last Sunday, May 3, NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service hosted the first Hartley Discovery Day. Creative Galah produced a creative development called Let's Fly with a number of Central West artists. Exploring the native wildlife of the area, children made small birds in workshops before joining a street parade. The parade was led by a giant bird puppet followed by participants in the West program - a collaboration of Milk Crate Theatre and LINC at Lithgow. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day. Thanks to GANG GANG Gallery for the use of their tables.

Creative Galah has launched the second year of the Leila Waddell Concert Series but exactly who was she? The Conversation Australia + NZ has done the research and published a story about this incredible talent from Bathurst.

"Leila Waddell (1880-1932) was a country girl from Bathurst, NSW, who entered the world stage as an acclaimed violinist - and left it having influenced magical practice into the 21st century.

The Leila Waddell Concert Series for 2026 has been announced and is on sale now. Visit https://www.creativegalah.com.au/events to find out all about the Partridge String Quartet performing in March, the Streeton Trio performing in July, and in November to finish the series we welcome Estampa to the stage.

Performances are all in Bathurst and are presented in association with Musica Viva Australia with support from Create NSW and Creative Australia and the generosity of Central West donors.
