I had the great pleasure of spending the day with these accomplished ladies. We spent a perfect Spring day outside learning to Basket coil. First time coilers, they all nearly completed their baskets in one day!

Progress update! Four hours later and we have layout and design complete and ready to full.
For those who have done a vessel workshop, I put one there for size reference ๐
So I am part of the Botanical Bazaar in August this year and decided to make one of their signature butterflies.
I had the brilliant idea to wet felt it not realizing the size!
It has taken awhile to work out logistics and upsize everything but I now have a huge butterfly resist, 3kg of wool tops from Fibre Arts Shed, some ribbons, sparkle and pre-felts.

On Saturday afternoon I had the great pleasure of becoming a student again and learning the first steps of crochet with our delightful guest teacher, Krishna Booth.
Our goal was the large square, we did a practice run to learn the stitches then learned a whole new level of respect for crocheterโs!

Choose your colour palette and learn to weave just using raffia if your prefer or dig into my collection of fibres including sari silk, banana silk, hand spun wools, h**p, linen and many more goodies.
You will leave having created one small basket that will teach you the techniques for starting, shaping, adding embellishments and finishing.
You will also go home with your own needle and bundle of raffia/fibres to continue your weaving journey.

Cover stitch over a raffia core using some of the many threads I have collected; dyed raffia, banana silk, h**p, linen and wool combinations. Not sure where I am headed yet but fun to find out.

I had a request to create a Wet Felted Santa Boot Workshop. In this workshop we will learn to work with Merino Batts and pre-felts. The batts make the layout stage a lot quicker, and the pre-felts keep your designs clear and in place. You can create whatever design you choose.
If you would like to try your hand at wet felting, this workshop is on Sat 4th December at 1.00pm in Helensvale. There are three places available and bookings can be made via our website.

I have been creating for as long as I can remember. Sewing clothes for my Barbies, for me, for friends, and then for my children. I have made jewellery, bags, mixed media paintings, and have always needed to play with texture and colour. For some years there was โno timeโ, allowing myself to be consumed by work and kids. Lately, the creative call has become louder as I discovered weaving, felting, textile basket making and dusted off my sewing machine. I am planning to transition to a slower, more mindful way of life and in so doing create a space for others to find expression for their creativity.
