NEWCASTLE. You’ve been very responsible all week. It’s becoming a concern.

Tomorrow night, come and be loud in a beautiful theatre with me.

ADDICTED TO LOVE is comedy, big vocals, questionable romantic decisions and the glorious relief of laughing at something that nearly broke you.

Cairns has just submitted its performance review:
“Best. show. ever!!!!!”
“She is a SinGer!!!!!”

The other feedback contains too many expletives for this respectable announcement. Please see attached evidence.

If you’ve been meaning to organise a night out, THIS IS IT. Send this to the mate you keep saying “we must catch up” to. Or come solo. You don’t need a committee to have a good time.

Civic Theatre, Newcastle
TOMORROW NIGHT - Friday 4 September, 8pm.

Come for a laugh. Discover I have quite the set of lungs. Leave very glad you got off the couch.

Tickets from Civic Theatre Newcastle

Addicted to Love is Em Rusciano at her most unfiltered, romantic, feral, and finely tuned.

CAIRNS! I am here, within you, I’ll see you at TANKS tomorrow night. Which sounds like a sports bar, a military themed restaurant and or a gay bar!

NEWCASTLE & THIRROUL/WOLLONGONG - I’m coming for you NEXT FRIDAY & SATURDAY NIGHT!

And I have one VIP experience to give away at each show.

You’ll meet me, get a photo, and sit near the front — all in exchange for the best worst dating story.

It can be yours. Your mate’s. Your mum’s. A date from 1998 that still wakes you up at 3am. One catastrophic evening or an entire relationship that, in hindsight, should have been investigated by authorities.

I want to know everything:

How many dates in were you?
What were the warning signs?
Did you ever see them again?
Did you somehow end up marrying them?
Are you still married to them?!
Was it horrifying then but hilarious now?

Give me diabolical. Give me toe-curling. Give me a story that makes the rest of us feel spectacularly well-adjusted.

Tell me your worst below, or nominate the friend who survived it and desperately deserves a lovely night out.

Newcastle Civic Theatre next Friday 4/9
Anita’s Theatre, Thirroul next Saturday 5/9

Go on. Unburden yourself. Your romantic suffering may finally pay dividends.

This is just my one small drop added to the ocean of grief pouring out across the world today.

It’s all anyone can talk about, think about or post about. So this is simply my offering, placed gently on the enormous, unending pile of offerings for a woman who somehow belonged to all of us.

Dolly Parton may have been the last person everybody agreed on. She touched so many lives in so many different ways.

She wrote songs that became part of our collective emotional language.

She championed working women before it was fashionable, or profitable, to do so.

She stood with the LGBTQIA+ community.

She funded scholarships and helped children in her hometown finish school.

She gave families who lost their homes in the Tennessee wildfires $1,000 a month while they rebuilt their lives.

She donated $1 million to COVID research at Vanderbilt, helping to fund the work that led to the Moderna vaccine.

She created the Imagination Library in honour of her father, who never learned to read or write and gave more than 300 million books to children around the world.

Her legacy will live for generations, in the music, the films, the books arriving in children’s letterboxes and the countless lives made better because she was here.

Just one more offering for the pile.

Thank you for everything, Dolly. 💔

I could tell you Addicted to Love is an excellent night out, but it’s more credible when other people say it. So: Witnesses. Receipts. Reviews from actual audience members.

Independent shows only survive when people show up and I promise, we’ll give you a night worthy of leaving the house.

Bring someone who needs a laugh, a sing and possibly a minor emotional breakthrough.

Cairns, Newcastle, Thirroul, Melbourne and Sydney - Let’s go!

24/08/2026

BRISBANE, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WHAT HAPPENED ON SATURDAY NIGHT AT QPAC?!

Because I can keep telling them ADDICTED TO LOVE is worth leaving the house for, but I am legally considered a biased witness.

You saw what Sean and I did in that room. You called it “top shelf no notes,” “raw, relatable and hilarious,” “honest and beautiful” and “exactly what I needed for my body, soul and mind.”

One woman said it was the best she had ever heard me sing.

Another brought her 15-year-old daughter for some “future-proofing.”

Someone else had to explain an 'Eiffel Tower' to her mum on the way home - honestly, this may be my favourite outcome so far.

Frankly, that is the breadth of experience I strive to provide.

Now I need your help.

If you were at the Brisbane show, please leave your honest review in the comments. Tell the people of Cairns, Newcastle, Thirroul, Melbourne and Sydney why they should come. Tag someone who needs this night or share this post with your people there.

My pals, these are your final chances to see ADDICTED TO LOVE.

I don’t think I have it in me to bring her out again. When this tour ends, I’ll close the chapter on a show I love very much and I want as many of you in those rooms as possible before I do.

So Brisbane, I’m handing this over to you:

What would you say to someone who is still deciding whether to buy a ticket?

I’m finally catching my breath after an absolute monster of a week. I still can’t quite comprehend that we put the very first incarnation of our new musical Em Rusciano, Michael Lucas & Sean Donehue on its feet with that cast and received the response we did. Thank you to every single person who came to see us at the Hayes Festival of new work, the room was electric. I can’t tell you the joy it brought me looking around at your smiling faces during the performance. The feedback has been extraordinary and it appears our little show has
as ambitions beyond her first outing. Quite a few people are now very interested in what she does next, as is her birthright. To our glorious company.
Marney McQueen
Elandrah Tavares

Joel Granger
RYAN GONZÁLEZ 🦦
Thank you for taking our characters and making them funnier, richer and more alive than we could have imagined. The talent, generosity and complete lack of ego you brought into that room was extraordinary; watching you build this world together in just two days was one of the great thrills of my career.
Michael Lucas my friend, consort and attaché - thank you for all your tireless work behind the scenes and for being our generous gay benefactor.

what you achieved with our costumes in one day is nothing short of a miracle, and I can’t wait to see what you do when you have a real budget.

Sean Riley Donehue bitch you ate.
And to Sheridan Harbridge thank you for your invaluable insight and direction. For now, all I can say is: watch this space. It’s all becoming very exciting.

Once I’ve emerged from the coma I’m about to delicately lapse into, we can discuss last nights show at QPAC - and a reminder to Cairns: I’m coming for you this weekend.

Rusciano - OUT.
