Oh how the time flies. I began this journey out of necessity really. Unable to find permanent work when I moved to Australia, I was chatting one day to a lady in Torquay and she told me she had a little Art Shop and she was looking for someone to come in an run an introductory Abstract Art class in her space. I said, I ll give it a go and well here I am 10 years later.

After a couple months of running a class for her, I continued on running my own classes privately, from my dining room in our apartment, for many years till we build and moved into our new home where I now have a dedicated space for Art making and Art Teaching.

I am so proud to call this my day job. Some of my students have been with me since day 1 and others have come and gone and even returned over the years making this the best work I get to call my job.

MY STUDIO FOR 2026

After a much needed break at the end of 2025, I am slowly getting back to a new groove for 2026.

In Jan 2026, we had a month long visit from my Canadian Family. We spent a lot of that time just loving and living with each other. Something we have not done since before 2020. We had long coffees together, cooked Trinidadian and Canadian Meals together and visited a lot of Aussie places together. It was a busy month of laughter and joy.

After a very teary goodbye, I am slowly returning to the Studio. My little slice of Solace and my joyful space for all things creative. I think this year the Studio will be a little different. Still a place of calm and joy but maybe a space for more meditative Art Practises and a greater opportunity to create more openly and authentically with you.

I want for myself this year to be more open with my motives and intentions for Art making. I would like to share with you my practice and process a lot more. A lot more quiet doing and creating from a space of love, passion and kindness.

I hope you join me along this journey of self reflection and acceptance.

How do you know when a piece of Art is complete?

A question I get asked a lot, and to tell you the truth, only you will know. For me, Art is the journey. Not the end product. Of course, composition and narration play a huge part in a successfully completed piece, but when it comes down to it, only you will know when the journey is complete and the destination has arrived.

Ask yourself, am I happy with where the painting took me? Am I closer to what I saw in my head, or further away? Am I okay with that.

I say to you as I do with all my students. Let it sit with you. Walk past the piece a few times and if you are still happy with your work, then you know, you have arrived.

I'm just about to frame this ink abstraction and I must say, I'm completely enamored with the lustre finish. This piece has been my fastest Ink Abstraction to date, with a process that unfolded seamlessly. The colours were new and exciting to work with, making the entire experience a true delight.

Currently, I'm in my studio, the soft hum of the outside world, seaping in as natural light pours in and dances across my artwork. I feel an overwhelming sense of joy and quiet accomplishment. This piece remains unnamed, so I'm open to suggestions.

The joy and difficulty of true Abstraction is having no game plan.

An opportunity to to work hands 1st with the mind following. For me, creating Abstract Art is my opportunity to be outside of myself. A chance to flow in a way that has no chronology.

This latest Ink Abstraction was a foray into blues and greens. The result is a shimmering light that dances across these colours, play hide and seek as the light shifts.

Capturing the true colourway of this piece continues to be extremely difficult, those iridescent pockets, but I shall persist.

These Alcohol inks never disappoint!

Busy Mind | Busy Week | Busy Life

I have formulated a one-hour weekly Art practise that allows you to take that much needed moment for yourself. A time to switch off your phone, unplug and work with your hands. Give yourself the opportunity to slow yourself. Allow yourself the time to rest the chores, quiet the noise and focus on the doing of the now.

Here at the Studio, we move with the moment.

My Studio Desk shifts with the needs of the person I'm teaching.

We move with materials and surfaces; changing with the demands of the work.

I never restrict my students from trying something new.

My studio is a treasure trove of new ways to play and use materials. If we need online resources, its there at our fingertips, if we want to experiment with colour or texture, we dig around and find the right materials for the task.

This is the joy of learning from an Artist, at her Studio. I have so many bits and pieces collected over the years, so when inspiration hits, we can create!
