✨️sending everyone lots of love over the holiday season 🌟 it's not an easy time for many, but know you're not alone. it's the day after christmas here in Australia and it's lovely to relax, rest, and scribble after the rushing, the craziness, and stress of the last few weeks.

✨️ life as a disabled person isn't easy. it wasn't too long ago that I added some journal pages specific to fibromyalgia, chronic pain, disability, and chronic illness. sadly, they've become some of my most downloaded pages. while I'm glad they're available for people to use, seeing how many are purchased hurts my heart.
to help further, I modified those pages even more and put them together into one journal. I called it 'holding space for myself' and I've priced it as low as I possibly can.
I made each of the pages from scratch, no templates. it has some of my hand drawn designs on the cover and inside cover.
it's a journal for those disabled and/or in pain by someone who is disabled and in pain.
I wish you nothing but love 🩷🙏🏻

✨ please give your small business owner friends a hug cos the holiday season is hard.

a person in Australia ordered a deck for her sister. After I sent through the tracking info she messaged me asking why it’s coming from overseas. I explained the fulfilment centre I use and how it’s mentioned in the listing and is also seen clearly upon checking out as I have the fulfilment centre address listed as where the item is coming from.

She then sent through screenshots of my own store as she tried to defend her misunderstanding.

One screenshot was of where it says the deck is handmade (handmade, vintage, and craft supplies are the only three categories for selling on Etsy).

Of course, that’s when the tears began. I’ll admit it, I’m a sensitive soul and holidays can be hard. plus, words hurt. In an ocean of decks created digitally and even with AI, having my hand drawn deck called into question really hurt.

ordinarily I wouldn’t of sat down and cried after seeing something like this. the holiday season is stressful for everyone, store holders included. so please, be kind. words have power.

if you want to shop online it’s always good to read the listing all the way through. usually, all questions can answered by doing this and lots of confusion can be avoided. read it, then re read it.

oh, and don’t assume things.

(I do posts like this to show that running a small business is anything but small. There are good and bad days)

🩷🌙 a daily card that's kinda miserable but journaling about it gave me some insights that have helped. that's the beauty of journaling, it's not just sitting with your thoughts. it's sifting through them, it's taking time to look from different angles.

🌙✍️🏻 i absolutely loved sketching these 🖤 to those who trusted me with your details, thank you 🤗 what I really like about these is the absolute uniqueness of each of them. all of those lines, angles, and intersecting lines are a way of spelling out the moment you were born into this realm, this lifetime, this incarnation.
(I dont understand astrology in the slightest, I only know the basics and even then I don't know them well. I'm not able to read a natal chart. I'm just a scribbler who enjoys those nice things that make us special ✨️😊🌸)

oh surprise, surprise, the death card shows up yet again 💀💀💀 what I really love about using a major arcana deck is that the messages feel clear and strong. for me, it takes away any subtlety that can detract and cause confusion.

✨️ I have nothing but mad love for coffee, books, journals, crystals, candles, stationery, and pretty things. I surround myself with these gorgeous things all the time. it's a huge reason I keep my store prices lower: because we all deserve to be surrounded by the nice things we love. it shouldn't be just for those with disposable income.

what this really shows is a lack of understanding and respect for creators and what they do. this person clearly misunderstood the entire listing, where there is no mention of customising the pouch or card holder. but the real kicker is that they still didn’t think ‘hmm, maybe I’m mistaken!?’ when they paid only $18AU (US$12.20) at the checkout. they even sent me a message with their requests for the designs, still not mentioning the price.

when I explained to them that “custom work is really quite expensive and there would be no way an artist could do two custom creations for only $18” (my exact words). I got this in reply, “I wanted a custom design thats why i searched custom design. I feel mislead and this will be in my review”.
(isn’t it just lovely when people use the review system as a weapon?)

I refunded them and I know I’ll get a terrible review anyway 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

many creators are already not charging enough for their goods. we’re an odd bunch who love what we do but also carry a decent amount of self doubt. we question what we do and how we price things. we can’t complete with big business, we can’t mass produce, and many of us are running a one person show. we love what we do and that’s why we continue to do it, regardless of all those obstacles.

just another day running a small business I guess 🤗

🖤✨️ after some scary health stuff and now having my small business running smoothly (mostly), ive been feeling a lil lost. with no real idea or direction of what to do next and having such a shock of a wake up call a few weeks back has left me frozen in place.
💫 this is where Marion MarionKTarot 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿] steps in, once again, to save the day.

okay, I'm not going to lie. recovery from the pulmonary embolism isn't easy. its been three weeks and taking things so slowly, and pacing myself, it's frustrating. thank goodness for my sketchbooks, journals, and other bits and pieces I'm working on.

one of those is a Le'Oracle deck (my fancy term for Lenormand and Oracle, anything French looking looks lovely. even if it's made up).

I honestly didn't expect so many people would love the inverted so I'm doing it again but with some new things added.

in this photo is the prototype deck. I have the 36 traditional Lenormand cards, I'll be adding on more to make 50 cards in total. it won't be ready for a while yet but it is making my recovery just that lil bit easier 🌟🥰🖤

I arrived home yesterday from the hospital to a mass of parcels 📦 long ago I had promised myself that when I was in the privileged position to do so, I would shop from small business as much as possible. the first package I opened up (with assistance from Lumi, swipe to see 👉🏻) was from 🖤 I got the large chevron amethyst you can see, more crystals, beauty products, a 12 days of Christmas goodie bag, a full moon ritual pack (omg that candle! *swoon*), and more. packaged with love doesn't even explain it. long story short: few days ago I started to get weak, short of breath, tight chest, jelly legs. two days ago I couldn't catch my breath and I knew something was up. ambulance took me to hospital where they found a large pulmonary embolism (a saddle PE is what it's called, the most dangerous type). it's basically a blood clot putting pressure on my heart and preventing me from being properly oxygenated. today is my second day in ICU, being closely monitored and given blood thinners. I'm already feeling much better and should be coming home on Friday.
the scary part is that if I hadn't called the ambulance my two other options were cardiac arrest or a stroke. I actually felt silly taking up the paramedics time, I even apologised to them at the time.

so to anyone out there who's been putting off a check up, or is worried about their health, take it from me and get it checked out.

(somehow in the blur and pain of trying to pack a bag for the hospital I knew to put in my sketchbook and markers!)
