‘s latest Terms & Conditions grant the platform a license to:
“reproduce, modify, create derivative works, distribute, make available to the public… in connection with the Service, through any medium, whether alone or in combination with other content or materials.”
This license is worldwide, perpetual, irrevocable, royalty-free, transferable, and sublicensable.
In practice, it means once an artist’s work is on Spotify, the company can alter, repurpose, and use it indefinitely — without additional compensation. This includes your images too, and videos, not just your music.
This is a dark turn toward an uncertain future, which is why we’ve decided to f**k Spotify off altogether.
Some of you would have noticed our beloved Egotoxin disappearing over a year ago, and it was all for a similar reason.
If you know anything about what we’ve been up to over the past 2 years, we’ve literally been deep in the trenches learning all there is to know about this crazy AI gobbledygook - actually building infrastructure and technology to combat this f**king bu****it world of disrespect of artist’s work and IP.
Whilst this effort has taken us off stage, put our music aside and even the drawing to rest, we honestly believe we’re doing the right thing, even if sometimes it feels like it’s already too late.
I assure you however, it’s not.
To celebrate this brilliant ‘f**k you’ to Daniel Ek and his military future fund, we’ve re-released Egotoxin on exclusively.
You can still stream our back catalogue on other platforms (for now) so be sure to use this as an excuse to migrate to fairer streaming services. Note: There aren’t many…
To all our beloved fans, we love you, we’re still here, things are always cooking.
More importantly to our fellow bands and tenacious musicians out there, please stay safe. Protect your s**t, be bold & think about educating and preparing yourself for what is to come.
We are in the end, stronger together 🫡
