Australian Wearable Art Festival THIS IS YOUR MOMENT TO SHINE

Entries are NOW OPEN for Australian Wearable Art Festival 2027.

We’re inviting artists, designers, creatives and makers from Australia and beyond to bring their ideas to life through wearable art.

For 2027, we’ve removed competition categories and any prescribed theme, giving artists the freedom to follow their own creative direction. Awards will recognise talent, skill, creativity and ex*****on - giving your work the space to speak for itself.

10,000 Supreme Award
$25,500 in total prize money

Whether you’re a returning AWAF artist or considering entering for the first time, this is your opportunity to create without limits, share your work with a live audience and be part of Australia’s wearable art community.

Entries close 31 January 2027.

Red Gallery OPEN CALL — RED ART PRIZE 2027

We’re delighted to announce that entries are now open for the Red Art Prize 2027, Red Gallery’s annual open-call group exhibition, welcoming artists at all stages of their careers and across a wide range of contemporary art practices.

Every eligible artwork will be exhibited at Red Gallery for three weeks, giving artists the opportunity to show their work, reach new audiences and collectors, and be part of a vibrant exhibition of contemporary art.

Awards

Winners will receive exhibition opportunities through three of Red Gallery’s annual programs:

• Red Salon Award
• Solo Exhibition Award
• Curated Group Exhibition Award

Cost to enter: $60 per artwork

Artists may submit up to three artworks,

2D: Maximum size of 60 × 60 × 10 cm （including frame）
3D: Maximum size of 60 × 40 × 40 cm

* Entry Deadline: 20 December 2026

Entries will close once all available spots are filled, which may be before the advertised deadline. We recommend securing your spot early to avoid missing the opportunity to take part in the Red Art Prize 2027.

* Exhibition Dates: 29 January – 13 February 2027
* Opening Night: Friday 29 January | 6–8 pm

We believe in sharing our knowledge, offering tips and encouragement, and helping you get the most out of your making.

And we believe in the value of having a local, independent shop where you can browse, ask questions, get advice and connect with other creative people.

As a small, independently owned business, we also need to make thoughtful decisions about how we operate, so we can continue to be here for our wonderful community of makers and our seasonal visitors.

Escape to the Mycelium Studios in Brunswick for a full day of creativity, connection, and hands-on making. Our creative retreat brings together passionate textile artists for an immersive experience filled with dedicated project time and a welcoming community atmosphere.

You’ll enjoy a full day of crafting in a comfortable venue with plenty of space to spread out and create. Whether you’re into embroidery, quilting, crochet, knitting, or any other textile art, you’ll find your creative flow surrounded by like-minded makers.

Work on your own projects at your own pace, discuss new techniques and share ideas with fellow artists in a relaxed, supportive environment.

Creative Spaces Exhibition opportunity ↘
City of Melbourne Libraries are now accepting expressions of interest to exhibit in 2027.

City Library gallery, Library at the Dock gallery and window space are available for 6-week exhibitions in 2026. The spaces provide a fantastic opportunity for visual artists to curate and exhibit their work to a diverse and vibrant audience.

Places in the program are limited and participants will be selected through an open EOI process.

Applications close at 11.59pm on Tuesday 10th November 2026.

Ararat Women’s Shed (& surrounds) ‘tis the season to get your Christmas crafty gifting done, and the perfect place to do it is at Stitch, Knit & Don’t Quit this Wednesday!

From making cards to decorations, mending or putting names on stockings, this is the perfect place to get it done, and have some fun.

Satellite Projects Thank you to everyone who joined us for the launch of “Material Memory” on Saturday.

The exhibition runs until 28 November. And you can also view and purchase the artworks on our website.

Bringing together four artists working across painting, textiles and cyanotype, the exhibition considers memory not as a fixed record of the past, but as something continually transformed and reinterpreted.

Venue: T3 foyer, 36 Wellington St, Collingwood, Melbourne.
