Unearthed Artist Conversations 🖤

Step into the world of An Embodied Nexus: The Menagerie and hear directly from the young artists and curators behind the exhibition!

Join us for an afternoon of Artist Conversations, where the artists will reflect on their experiences throughout the Unearthed Youth Arts Program, their creative journeys and the process of bringing the exhibition to life.

Hear about their ideas, experimentation, collaboration and the experiences that shaped their work, while gaining insight into what it means to be an emerging young artist.

🎨Our new Campaspe Artists in Residence (CAIR) program is taking expressions of interest now!
The program offers artists of all disciplines and stages dedicated time, professional support and opportunities to develop their artistic practice, undertake research, explore local stories and landscapes, and strengthen connections with community and place.

🤩Over the past seven months, six talented young artists have come together through Council's Unearthed Youth Arts Program, developing their creative practice, building new skills and bringing their ideas to life.

🎨From March to September, Elijah Beriman, Ayden Freestone, Emily Burgess, Jessica Knight, Olivia Lees and Saylah Tarrant met regularly working alongside Lead Creative Facilitator Ellen Lee and Artist Facilitator Ethan O'Brien to create new works culminating in their exhibition An Embodied Nexus: The Menagerie.

👉Looking for something to do these school holidays? Head down to The Foundry Art Space in Echuca where you can see their work on display until 25 October.

Well what a fabulous evening, day, week and past seven months of working with a super talented collective of young artists. Unearthed Collective are a collaborative, caring, embodied, open, experimental and expressive group of folx who trusted us with holding space for creativity to flourish. We all had such a wonderful time and we can’t wait to see what happens for Unearthed at Kyabram Town Hall Gallery next year . . . there is so much talent in our Shire!

An Embodied Nexus: The Menagerie

Step into a world of imagination, curiosity and creativity!

Featuring the work of young artists and curators Ayden Freestone, Elijah Beriman, Emily Burgess, Jessica Knight, Olivia Lees and Saylah Tarrant, this exhibition brings characters and creatures to life through artwork and animation while exploring the wonders of our natural environment.

2026 Lockington Mural Competition Underway!

The Arts & Culture team visited the Lockington Community Centre to discuss the upcoming Campaspe Artist in Residence (CAIR) Program, launching later this month. We’re excited about the possibility of the centre hosting an artist or creative in 2027.

While there, we caught the first day of the 2026 Lockington Mural Competition, with talented young artists including Grace Murphy and Art by Greta🎨🖌️✨ bringing their large-scale mural designs to life. These artworks will soon be installed at the Community Park Pump Track.

It was fantastic to meet the artists, hear about their creative process, and share information about the CAIR Program. We hope to see some of these emerging local creatives submit an Expression of Interest. Watch this space! 👏✨

Lockington Neighbourhood House

The Lonely Hut is coming to the Kyabram Town Hall Gallery from 4-30 September, with an official opening from 6pm to 8pm on this Friday, 4 September.

Everyone is welcome!

This unique exhibition features the celebrated printmaker David Fraszer’s “The Lonely Boy III” alongside 13 rarely seen works from Council’s George Rathbone Collection.

Explore stories of place, history and isolation through striking Murray River landscape artworks.
