I can’t believe that my studio community turned 10 today!
Thank you to Dee Heath and Kayne Morrison for creating this space for all people to experience pole in a way that serves them - all of them. I love your vision today even more than the first day I met you both. You transformed pole for me and you’ve made that possible for THOUSANDS of people since. I’m so grateful to lead this special community you started.
I wrote an email to my community yesterday about what I was thinking and feeling leading up to this momentous occasion and here it is…
I've spent the past few weeks going through a LOT of photos and videos of what the studio has been like over the years. It has been a real emotional roller coaster to travel down memory lane and see so many familiar faces who have been a part of our journey so far.
A real *delight* to see the faces that are still with us to this day! Hooray! 🥳 And while it's equally lovely to see the faces of all the students whose personalities have lit up our studio along the way, those who are no longer with our community, each represent a tiny little hole in my heart.
Being a pole instructor is one of the most rewarding jobs in the world. We get to help people - mostly women - move beyond their self-critique and self-limiting beliefs. We facilitate self-discovery and encourage self-expression. We get to guide people towards seeing exactly how much more they are capable of, so much more than you imagine, and we get to see how that transforms your confidence.
I want to do it every day, forever.
We do it because we love it - but we also do it because we love people. We are heavily invested in your success, and I really don't think you realise just how much!
That isn't a criticism - it's just that we don't often get the chance to talk about this.
You don't need to, either - we're here for you and we're here for that reason - we want to help people shine. But it means we miss people when they go.
We have hundreds (if not thousands!) of memories of people's firsts, their huge victories, their long struggles.
If you ever wonder if you matter to anyone - know that you matter to your pole instructor. Even if you were their student 10 years ago.
She sees it as a huge honour, that she gets to witness you at your most vulnerable, striving for so much.
She is proud of you when you're working hard, and she feels for you when you're struggling.
We maintain a professional boundary - well my staff do a much better job than I do! - but know that, ultimately, we care ten times more than we ever show.
When you leave, we notice. You become another tiny little hole in our heart.
Going down memory lane these past few weeks, you bet I leaked. There are just so many of those tiny holes.
There will be more of them, too.
And I wouldn't trade it for quids.
I'm proud of these puncture wounds. I have your smiles to remember. I have the memories of all the "Aha!" moments I've helped you to reach. I have the echo of your trust in me, with me always.
So: thank you for being a part of this - because it is so incredibly special to me.
I'm ready to celebrate all that we are and all that we have been!
HERE'S TO TURNING TEN!
Cheers 🥂
