Set in the rich culture of Yolŋu country in north-east Arnhem Land the Gattjirrk Milingimbi Cultural Festival is in its 40th year of celebrating culture in all forms. The Festival will draw people together to celebrate and strengthen cultural expression and to promote the physical and spiritual well being of the community.

What a night! Performances from Tony Batju Youth Band and Teacher Band, Martin Gaykamangu, Black Iron, Sea Band, Galiwin'ku Youth Band, Ripple Effect, Nabalek and special youth beat boxing, hip hop and bollywood dance showcases from the week of workshops with Hope One, Bboy Sette (360 Allstars) and Jinu Mathew!

Day two of the festival!

More youth workshops ongoing at the school and band rehearsals throughout the day.

Crocodile Island Rangers are at the makarrata site preparing the beef in the ground oven with Lily Roy's expertise. The last of the shelters are being built with CDP.

From 5.30pm, Lily Roy will be running bush medicine workshops at the site, the Crocodile Island Rangers will be serving the paperbark and ground oven cooked beef and vegetables and buŋgul from 6.30pm will kick off tonight!

Opening night and festival activities from Milingimbi Gattjirrk Cultural Festival. Thanks Crocodile Island Rangers for putting on the magic feast at the beach of fresh crab and fish and for Milingimbi Arts and Culture Centre for being the host venue.

The night finished with a disco with the help from Youth, Sports and Recreation and a Chooky Dancers reunited performance!

Tomorrow night buŋgul night from 6.30pm at the makarrata site!
