Clay, the stories behind him, the Aarti, and their own Ganesha to carry home and establish the next morning.

Traditional dress, snacks for the kids, limited seats.

The day before Ganesh Chaturthi, your child shapes their own Ganpati from clay, hears the stories behind him, and carries him home to welcome the next morning. Traditional dress, pooja and aarti for the whole family. Parents free.

Last week I had the privilege of visiting Parliament House to represent Maroondah Indian Community, after an invitation to meet Evan Mulholland MP, Shadow Minister for Multicultural and Multifaith Affairs.

It was my first time meeting him, and what stayed with me was how humble and easy to talk to he was. He listened properly, asked about our families and what we run here in Maroondah, and gave us his time without watching the clock.

MIC does not sit on any side of politics, and that has not changed. But when someone wants to understand our community and how we can work together, we are always happy to have that conversation.

Grateful for the invitation and for the chance to talk about our people.

Rashi Mujoo and I were at Maroondah City Council's Community Grants night at Karralyka Centre today night, in a room full of people quietly holding this city together.

Council has backed MIC's wellbeing initiative. Twelve Sunday mornings in Ringwood from October, looking at food, movement, sleep and stress, with a group of people doing it alongside you. Too many of us only deal with our health after something goes wrong. We want to change that.

Thank you Cr Daniella Heatherich, Cr Linda Hancock, Cr Chris Jones and Cr Rob Steane, Adam Cooper, Joanna Wood and the community development team at City of Maroondah. Good to meet Sawm Suante from Migrant Information Centre and Lillie Giang from The Food Affectionist, both recognised on the night as well.

🎥 A look back at our very first MIC Business Networking Meet-Up! 🤝

What started as an idea to bring local businesses together has now become a growing community of passionate entrepreneurs, professionals, and business owners committed to supporting one another.

It was an afternoon filled with meaningful conversations, new connections, shared experiences, and exciting opportunities for collaboration. Thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the first event such a memorable success.

This is just the beginning. Together, we're building a stronger business community across Maroondah and surrounding areas—one connection at a time.

MIC has won a Maroondah City Council grant and is gearing up to deliver our 12-week wellbeing program. 30 have already registered.

Not registered yet? Please do it by 5pm on 25 July. No intake after that.

For South and Southeast Asian adults, 40 to 60. Every week:
- Learn: health education from doctors
- Move: walking, exercise, hiking or swimming
- Connect: Bollywood dance, art and craft, or gardening

Commitment: 12 weeks (Oct to Jan), about 3 hours a week, just $50.
