For a small theatre company, Nicholas Joy (Producer and owner) pulled off an almighty show with some of the best QLD has to offer. Timothy Wynn as director, Jennifer B Ashley choreographer, Luke Volker music director, Jason Bovaird for lighting and Levi Rayner for sound, as well as a list of talented actors taking on Sharne Warne the musical at the Armitage centre connected to the Empire Theatre in Toowoomba.

REVIEW: Alice by Heart - Phoenix Ensemble

Alice by Heart ,where reality fractures and imagination rushes in to fill the cracks. Phoenix Ensemble's production doesn’t just retell a story; it dives headfirst into the beautiful chaos of memory, grief, and escapism, inviting the audience to lose themselves in a Wonderland that is as emotionally raw as it is visually aesthetic. From its opening down beat, it’s clear this is not a gentle trip down the rabbit hole, but a bold, heartfelt reimagining that dares you to feel everything all at once.

REVIEW: Die, Mommie, Die - Midnight Social

This show had some very clever directorial moments. The most impressive was the moment where the mum throws the scissors at the daughter but trips as she throws them so we are looking at her, and in the same split second the daughter is screaming and we look back at her and she’s got the scissors hanging out of her eye socket. The trip was so convincing, not played up at all – The audience thought she had actually tripped on the coffee table, so we were genuinely watching her. It all worked so nicely, very well directed and executed.

REVIEW: Come From Away - Spotlight Theatrical Company

Make every moment meaningful, as it could be your last. A moment is sometimes memorable, sometimes forgettable; however, there is a moment in everybody's life that you will remember forever. Just like most of us will remember what happened on that fateful day, September 11 2001. On that dark day, the entire world stopped for a moment. Panic, disbelief, terror and horror filled every TV screen, radio and heart. Perhaps you were in your car, at school or at work; however, for 7,000 people they were in the air... on an aeroplane. Come From Away tells the story of these 7,000 people and the entire towns that supported them during this dark time in humanity. Come From Away zooms into a small town in Newfoundland called Gander after 38 planes brought nearly 7,000 people into the town. These people opened their arms, schools, homes, shelters, and any community building they could to support these scared and panicked passengers. In this moment of terror, this small town came to support in a 100min story that will make you cry and laugh and DEMAND you leave the theatre a better person.

REVIEW: The Narcissist - Gold Coast Little Theatre

Are you someone who is obsessed with themselves? Or know someone who is so egotistical it hurts? The Gold Coast Little Theatre's The Narcissist is for you!

Xavier is a narcissist. A jaded, urban professional stuck in the show-me world of Brisbane’s inner-city, he’s approaching middle age and the dream of finding a “psychosexually well-adjusted” partner is slipping through his perfectly manicured fingers. Enter Bronwyn — his best friend, boozy, brilliant and equally fed up with life’s second-hand thrill. She issues a challenge: “Six weeks to bag a man! No ifs, no buts, no limits, no boundaries and no rules!” The Narcissist is a riotous, politically incorrect post-modern comedy of manners — part farce, part social commentary — that peels back the shiny veneer of middle-class sexual politics and self-image wars. With razor-sharp wit and unapologetic swagger, Carleton holds up the mirror and asks: Who’s watching who?

"It's the price of fame, you pay the price of fame" - Michael Jackson

Grab out those sparkly gloves and sunglasses, because that price is on full display as MJ The Musical moonwalks its way into QPAC this autumn. A visual spectacle and auditory masterpiece, this production doesn’t just celebrate the King of Pop, it interrogates the cost of becoming him and dazzling audiences night after night.

REVIEW: Rent The Musical -

Jonathan Larson’s masterpiece Rent is a production famously shrouded in layers of pop-culture and theatre myth, with Larson tragically passing away just before its opening night. Directed by Kaela Gray, with Musical Direction by Rachel Love, Javeenbah’s youthful production captures the gritty spirit of New York’s East Village in the 1990s with a powerhouse ensemble.

REVIEW: The Vicar of Dibley -

When the small village of Dibley loses its 102-year-old Vicar, they eagerly await the arrival of the new, hopefully much younger, replacement. But Geraldine Granger was certainly not what they had expected. Set in the early 90s, when the ordination of women within the Church of England was a new and somewhat controversial concept.
Based on the multi-award-winning BBC sitcom of the same name, Starring Dawn French and adapted for the stage by Ian Gower and Paul Carpenter, the Villanova Players’ rendition of ‘The Vicar of Dibley’ is a laugh-out-loud experience that everyone can enjoy.
