You might notice I'm usually dressed in black—and there's a very intentional reason for that.
Children's entertainment should be colourful, magical and full of fun... but I don't need to be the loudest thing in the room. The face paint should be!
For some children, especially little ones who are shy, sensory-sensitive, or trying face painting for the very first time, the experience can feel like a lot. The cool paint, the soft brushes, the excitement around them—it can all be wonderfully magical, but also a little overwhelming.
So I try to keep things simple.
A calm outfit. A gentle approach. A smile, a chat, and as much time as they need to feel comfortable.
Some children hop straight into the chair ready to become a dino or butterfly. Others need to watch for a while, ask lots of questions, or hold a loved ones hand first. Both are perfect.
There is never any pressure—only encouragement, patience, and plenty of fun.
