Join us for an afternoon of spine-tingling folk songs and instrumental playing from award-winning songwriter, Lucy Wise and her band on Saturday 26 Sept at the Cobargo Showground NSW, from 3pm.
Lucy has appeared at the Cobargo Folk Festival and Yuin Folk Club in recent years, and she is returning to Cobargo as part of her East Coast Australian Tour of her new album, Salt. Doors open 3pm for a 3:30pm start.
Lucy Wise creates music that gently opens a door you didn’t realise was closed. Blending contemporary folk with pop-inflected melodies, intricate guitar work and poetic lyricism, her songs make space for reflection on longing, connection and the inner lives we carry. Her warm presence and storytelling create a sense of shared experience between artist and audience. Lucy’s band, bringing together Isaac Gunnoo on bass and Justin Olsson on drums, weaves a vibrant soundscape for Lucy’s songs, with voice, guitar, a rolling rhythm section and lush vocal harmonies.
Originally from South West Australia and now based in Central Victoria, Lucy has toured extensively across Australia, New Zealand, the UK and the US, and appeared at festivals including Woodford, Port Fairy and the National Folk Festival. Her work has earned multiple accolades, including Solo Artist of the Year at the 2024 Australian Folk Music Awards.
The concert will commence with Piper Allen who is a singer/ songwriter based on the Far South Coast. Her style of music blends dreamy folky sounds with jazzy neo soul. Her songs reflect the potential that lies beneath our everyday emotions and experiences. Influenced by her familial connection to South America she loves Brazilian music particularly the soft smooth tones of bossa nova. Supported by her partner Taisha Reed on percussion.
