Thank you to the Redland Bayside News for their support of the local social scene. This was just a small cross section of the audience who attended the 2026 Australia Day production ‘Dinkum Assorted' at Redlands Coast Museum during January and February.

Kudos to the wonderful events team at the museum for decorative rolling pins which adorned the dinner tables!!!

And that’s a wrap! The biscuits have been baked 🍪, Lola the oven has been retired from service 🫡 … and Rita the goat is resting comfortably in the yard - with a rum-chaser!!! 🐐🥃

Theatre Redlands thanks everyone who attended the six performances of “Dinkum Assorted” over the previous two weekends. Four, sold-out performances were terrific to see and you all brought an energy to the room which the cast fed off.

Many massive thank yous must go the legendary group of volunteers (the best around!) and the management committee at the Redlands Coast Museum for looking after us and helping to present a wonderful 2026 Australia Day Play.

Tickets are selling fast for the Australia Day Play 2026 – Dinkum Assorted at Redlands Coast Museum from January 23.

It’s 1942 and World War 2 is on Australia’s doorstep. In the remote township of Warrabadanga - temporary home for two thousand American airmen - the town’s biscuit factory is it’s beating heart, but it is under threat of closure. Can fifteen local women keep their factory open and the biscuits baking?

Like the biscuits they bake these women are a wide assortment, but they find common ground through drama, comedy, pathos, comradeship – and a goat!

"Dinkum Assorted" is written by Linda Aronson and is a masterpiece of human observation exploring group relationships, the circumstances that affect them, and the impact World War 2 had on the status and role of women.

Our five nominees in this year’s Gold Coast Area Theatre Awards have, unfortunately, not progressed to next week’s Presentation Night. Awards are the tip of the iceberg and being nominated is wonderful, however the journey of the theatre practitioner is so much more – bringing stories to life and engaging the community through live performance.

Theatre Redlands has its eyes forward on preparations for the 2026 Australia Day production "Dinkum Assorted" hosted at the Redlands Coast Museum from 23 January. Book your tickets online https://bit.ly/Dinkum_Bookings (just in time for Christmas!!!🎄🎁)

More to come here in the coming months about the intrepid Biccie Queens of Warrabadanga…

The Story It’s 1942. Australia braces for invasion, and in the remote town of Warrabadanga—temporary home to two thousand American airmen—fifteen determined women are fighting to keep the biscuit factory alive.
