The Australian Wool Store Artisan yarns - unique hand dyed yarns and fibres Welcome to The Australian Wool Store. Gorgeous, hand dyed artisan yarn in a variety of plies and bases.

Postage is a flat rate of $10 with a tracking number for anywhere in Australia using Australia Post. I recommend hand washing your yarns and fibres in cold water and drying flat in the shade. I take a lot of care to represent the true colours of the yarns and fibres in my photos. I cannot be held responsible for inaccurate colour representations on your devices.

Our last two days in Iceland have been packed with amazing sights and incredible experiences.
We walked amongst the icebergs on black sand beaches, ate traditional Icelandic fish rolls on the glacier fields as we watched seals playing around the icebergs. We saw more waterfalls that were soooo incredibly beautiful. We visited an amazing folk museum and a tomato farm. We watched a geyser erupt right in front of us.
Then we headed back to Reykjavík for our final night in this amazing country before the long trek home.

Today was a slightly different day to the rest of tour… today we said goodbye to Gabby as she heads off on her personal month long journey around Europe! But first, we had a quick tour of the town Hofn and the glaciers across the lake, before dropping Gabby off at the small domestic airport. From there she headed down to Reykjavik while the rest of the tour explored glaciers, beautiful sights and a very delicious buffet dinner!

Can you believe our tour is nearly coming to the end 😭❤️ Today we headed to the town of Hofn, but not before we stopped to see some gorgeous sights along the way! We enjoyed morning tea before heading to Breiddalsvik where the University of Iceland's Research Centre is located. Here we learnt about Dr. George Walker, who revolutionized the study of Icelandic geology and helped transform volcanology into a quantitative science. It was then time for lunch where we enjoyed coffee and cake 🥰❤️ After making it to our hotel, we enjoyed yet another two course meal! We’ve been spoilt 😍

We are feeling so incredibly lucky to have witnessed the Northern Lights at our stay in Myvatn 😍❤️

On the road again to Egilsstadir, but first we stopped by the geothermal area Namafjall Hverir, drove through the mountain roads, had lunch at a mountain hut with their very own reindeer, viewed Rjukandi Waterfall and then finished the day at Vok Baths for a lovely swim in the hot springs ❤️🥰 It was then to the hotel for a yummy two course meal before heading to bed for some knitting 🧶

Iceland, we love you! We had a fabulous day, with gorgeous weather, seeing some incredible sights including the Akureyri Botantical Gardens, Godafoss Waterfall, the Dimmuborgir Lava Fields, the geothermal area of Namaskard Pass - including the pseudo Skutustadagigar craters and the Dettifoss Waterfall! We even managed to do some yarn shopping this morning 🥰❤️🤭 We then checked into our gorgeous hotel, enjoyed a three course meal and was even treated to an after dinner show of the Northern Lights!!! It was so magical and we are so happy we got to see them! I think a few of us will stay up a bit later to watch them for longer 🥰😍❤️

After an early morning start we were on our way to Akureyri! ❤️ On the way we stopped at Barnafoss waterfall at Reykholt, viewed the Hraunfossar waterfall, visited the Hot Spring at Deildartunguhver and finally stopped by a horse stable in Varmahlid 🐎 Here a few of us embarked on a horse ride through the valley and it was magical! We were blessed with beautiful weather, gorgeous horses and even a rainbow! We then finally made it to Akureyri where we will stop for the night 🥰❤️

Today our bus tour around Iceland began!
We started off by visiting Stykkishholmur’s Shark Museum where we tasted 300+ year old Greenland Shark, an Icelandic delicacy which is only sold here! It was an interesting taste - that’s for sure! 😊
We then stopped by the Hellnar area of Snaefellsjokull National Park,
Arnarstapi village, viewed the Snaefellsjokull glacier, stopped by Djupalonssandur Beach and finally
Grundarfjordur for a view of Mount Kirkjufell.
We then checked into our hotel for the night where we were spoilt to a delicious three course meal ❤️🥰 Fingers crossed we see the Northern Lights soon! 😍

What a fabulous day we had visiting Inga at Urður Ull.
Inga gave us a lovely tour of her mini mill and inspired all of us with her amazing story.
Inga has created an amazing life for herself and her family and she has built an inspirational business based on community, quality and love.
We couldn’t resist buying the beautiful yarn for sale - I have grand plans of creating a fair isle vest and beanie with mine but we’ll see 😁
If you visit Iceland please take the time to visit Inga at her amazing mill - you won’t be sorry. I hope, like me, that you’ll be very inspired by this strong and humble woman just doing her thing quietly and efficiently.

Day 24!! The days are starting to blend into each other….do I actually have a home?
Today we had a wonderful excursion to Selfoss to experience South Icelandic Wool Week.
We visited Hespa Huis where Gudren demonstrated her natural dyeing techniques. Her setup is quite spectacular and I want to live in her shed 😁
We visited a couple of other stores before a very inspiring visit to Uppspuni Mini Mill where Hulda showed us how she transforms her fleeces into beautiful yarn.
We followed our beautiful day with a fun mosaic crochet class with Tinna Þórudóttir Þorvaldar. Tinna showed us how to crochet the sweetest zippered purses - so handy for little handmade gifts!!
