Eric Read is an award-winning singer/songwriter, ventriloquist and comic who just loves entertaining and making people laugh. With a growing repertoire of original songs which are being played all over the world, Eric has written and recorded many songs, including several comedy songs and songs about life. His comedy song Downsizing won the CCMA Lyricist of the Year Award 2021 and was a finalist i

n the MLT Songwriting Awards at the NZ Country Music Awards in Gore New Zealand in June 2021 and semi finalist in the Australian Songwriters' Association 2021 awards. The Generation, a tribute to Eric's late parents, won the Australian Songwriters Association 2020 Australian category. The Generation was a finalist in the 2021 Tamworth Songwriters' Association's New Songwriter of the Year award. Eric won the Tamworth Songwriters’ Association Comedy Novelty Song of the Year 2020 award with his song Wouldn't Be Dead for Quids. His comedy song Downsizing won the CCMA Lyricist of the Year Award 2021 and was a semi finalist in the Tamworth Songwriters' Association 2021 awards. His wife Jacinta is also a songwriter, her song Proud to be an Anzac (The Ballad of Billy Torrance), has received international applause. Eric is now relishing a new phase of life as a musician/ventriloquist on the Sunshine Coast where he and his wife Jacinta operate their entertainment business Read Entertainment. Eric Read’s Variety Shows feature Eric on guitar and vocals, with his own self-recorded backing tracks, playing a vast repertoire of music including classics from the 50s right through the decades, a bit of traditional and modern country, trop rock, comedy and Aussie classics. Members of the International Ventriloquists’ Society, Eric and Jacinta have previously attended the Vent Haven convention in the US, where they learn and network with the world ventriloquism community. Eric’s shows are well embraced at clubs, cafes, retirement communities, private events, aged care, markets and family venues - even a pet shop gig! He is a versatile entertainer who loves communicating with his audiences. Our shows feature ever changing content and variety to ensure fresh appeal.
