Last week, our team in Cairns connected with 5000 students, job seekers and those looking for a career change at the Cairns Careers Expo!

We got to share many of the behind-the-scenes roles that are vital to our screen industry and visitors had the chance to test VR games, dabble in special effects makeup and test out a camera and greenscreen, learning some framing and lighting techniques along the way.

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with people from across Carins, Atherton Tablelands and Cassowary Coast regions as we continue to build our talent base in Far North Queensland. Thanks for having us Business Liaison Association!

This National Reconciliation Week, we want to first acknowledge the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of Queensland as the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waters on which we work. We recognise their continuing connection to Country, culture and community and pay our respects to Elders past and present.

This year's theme, 'All In', calls on all Australians to commit to reconciliation wholeheartedly every single day. Screen Queensland is 'all in' on pursuing reconciliation alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the other communities that call Australia home.

The fascinating final course of 🌴TASTE OF THE TROPICS 🌴Tropical Innovators closes season two on SBS On Demand tonight!

Join Sharon Cavanagh-Luskin, a Kuuku Ya’u, Irukandji and Wonnarua public health scientist and community organiser, as she travels across Far North Queensland exploring how tropical ingredients can spark bold new ideas. Discover a trailblazing banana farmer, a boundary-pushing local chef, home cooking with a twist and learn how traditional foods like lemon myrtle and kangaroo meat are powering astronauts.

Produced by Kate Boylan-Ascione and Karen Jackson, these stories paint a vivid portrait of a region where ancient knowledge, creative ambition and scientific innovation are quietly reshaping the future of food.

Taste of the Tropics is part of Screen Queensland’s North Queensland Regional Program, delivered by Screenworks in association with SBS Australia and supported by The Post Lounge.

Hollywood star Adrian Grenier leads the heartfelt romantic comedy YOU, ALWAYS, now streaming on Netflix 💌

Produced by Brisbane-based Jaggi Entertainment, the film showcases the stunning landscapes of tropical Far North Queensland, with principal photography captured on location as well as at Screen Queensland Studios in Cairns.

YOU, ALWAYS follows Ethan (Grenier), a devoted best friend who finally realises he’s been in love with Dr Jen Bell, played by Jessica De Gouw (The Union, The Portable Door), all along—just as her world is turned upside down by the arrival of a charismatic author played by Desmond Chiam (Joy Ride, Mortal Kombat 2).

Proudly , the production was supported through our Screen Finance Fund.
