🎹Kyans family, some of the most beautiful and bravest people I’ve ever met. They will forever hold a place in my heart♥️.

🎹Kyan, a young and gifted pianist, died tragically in a freak accident on his family’s property four years ago today.
🎼Just after he died, his parents came across a piece of music he’d written, and put the📣call out on social media for musicians to play the piece, so they could hear Kyan’s first and last composition.
✨Inspired by Kyans song, I listened and improvised; recording and comping my🎙️vocals.
My approach felt like a🙏prayer, a call from my heart, to try to give voice to a grief that goes beyond words to express.
Together with my friend 🎸 Ben Lopez we created this music piece as a tribute Kyan and his family Amanda Brierley.

The day before my husband Brett's🧠third brain surgery we were interviewed by the ABC News

The story is about Australia recognising toxic burn pits as a cause of cancer in soldiers.

This story is less about us and more about hoping to help other soldiers etc that may have been exposed. We don't want soldiers and their families to go through what we did; however unless the system is changed to allow recognition of conditions that (at this time) are less understood, soldier's and their families are left to fight for themselves in a war they were never trained for.

Quite a few years ago now I conducted some detailed research on the potential impact, adverse health effects of ADF members exposure to burn pits in the Middle East

I found enough evidence to believe there was a connection and that led to us lodging a claim, which was rejected.

Recently, I found out that soldiers in the USA automatically recieve compensation and medical treatment if they've been exposed to smoke from burn pits in the Middle East.

When the heart is cut or cracked 💔or broken, do not clutch it; let the wound lie open. Let the wind from the good old 🌊sea blow in, to bathe the wound with salt, and let it sting.
