Congratulations to our very own Stephen Pigram on being awarded the 2026 Red Ochre Artistic Excellence Award!🏆🎶

Fifty years ago, a 16-year-old began a remarkable musical journey. Today, that journey has been recognised with one of the highest honours for artistic excellence, celebrating a lifetime of dedication, creativity, and contribution to Australia's music and arts industry.

Deeply influenced by his father, Eric Pigram, Stephen’s songs have become living archives preserving ancestral memory, history, culture, and identity for generations to come. His distinctive fingerpicking style and powerful voice have made him a respected and enduring figure in Australian arts and culture.

His brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, grandchildren, extended family, and countless friends are immensely proud of his dedication, passion, and the unique musical voice that has touched so many lives.

A heartfelt thank you to his eldest daughter, Naomi whose nomination helped shine a light on the incredible legacy her father has built over the past 5 decades. Greatly appreciated.

A very special mention must also go to his brother, Alan Pigram, who stood proudly by Stephen's side as he received this prestigious award and performed alongside him on the night. Alan's own commitment to music, storytelling, and cultural preservation over many decades has been equally significant. Together, the Pigram brothers have shared stories, songs, and culture with audiences across Australia and beyond, leaving an enduring legacy that continues to inspire generations.

Stephen, your music continues to inspire, educate, and connect people across generations. This recognition is a testament to a lifetime of hard work, cultural leadership, and artistic excellence.
