Lesson of the day

For my day job I do a lot of document control editing and control. Control+Z (undo) is my friend

Recently my friend Zak at Videnda Arts Initiative introduced me to a really good matte varnish, and I decided to experiment with it, using two layers to set each stage of this painting

As you can see, Morai is a bit of a mess, I got her eyes and beak all wrong and they are at 1:1 not 1:1.5, and the shadow. Her current face is my second attempt - what you see on the right is an incomplete step. I used a chisel for wood work and shaved off the paint for the bird layer, back to a blue background, gave it a little smooth, and base, then tried again

Now I have the proportions right I’ll have attempt #3 next, and I’ll post the results when I’m done. It’s a really effective undo button, had you seen 1.0 with her eyes central like a predator, you would be sad like I was.

I think I got the lines right for the third moon, which will have The Daughter on it

Brisbane has been in the wet season for about two months now, give or take. I’ve moved indoors and the humidity is really slowing things down. Currently looking at freeze frames from Clone Wars for the last details, will start working on more than one area at a time now I’ve got the easel Mum gave me working. Big shout out to Videnda Arts Initiative for your help

Early layers on the Ahsoka layer of my latest painting, then a contrast layer. This one has been slow going, as I have been sealing each layer before working on the next element, so I can undo things I don’t like. Almost done.
