When you order a reed our Gr 1 piper Nick will select a reed that is vibrant and free, as well as at a strength suitable to you - tested against a specific number so you can keep coming back for the same strength reed every time.

We are pleased to have a sample shipment of Caldwell Reeds arrive. Made by David Caldwell, player in the worlds best bands including Field Marshal Montgomery, Scottish Power, 78th and Strathclyde Police.

We tested them in a number of chanters and they worked particularly well in the McCallum Bagpipes Ltd Ceol chanter. The balance was phenomenal with barely any tape required. The volume increase was notable, particularly on low g. The batch quality was great, not having to filter through for the good ones.

The reeds like to sit a bit flatter than other reed brands, but that helps to produce a lovely tone and keep the pitch under control in Australian weather.
