Elabana Falls and Picnic Rock Trail:
I have completed this track previously as part of the Toolona Creek Circuit, however this time decided to head back and spend a bit more time checking out Elebana Falls a little closer.
And what a magic spot it is!
An absolutely beautiful waterfall cascading into multiple smaller ones.

Queen Mary Falls - Main Range National Park.
Yet another road sign I have driven past for the last 20 years and never been to check it out.
It was absolutely beautiful!
One that I will definitely take the kids along to one day as it's a short simple trail.
I can imagine it would look amazing after some rain.

Girraween National Park:
I came, I saw, but I did not conquer...
Headed off on Thursday morning with the aim of completing the 52km Girraween Circuit with an overnight camp at Bald Rock.
Sadly a few factors quickly brought me back to reality and I realised I was in over my head.
Between the steep terrain up the boulders, the weight of the pack, the strong winds and the heat I had to call it early and make the decision to head back after only 7km.
The grade of the rock faces put far too much pressure on my knees, and rather than risk an injury, I pulled the pin.
I still managed to see a few landmarks such as Mount Norman, Castle Rock, The Sphinx and Turtle Rock.
The views from the peaks I made it to were spectacular overlooking the whole park.
I'll certainly give the overnight hike another go, but in a more manageable area next time with some extra preparation.

Mount Mitchell
This was definitely a bucket list hike as I have driven past this section of Main Range National Park at the top of Cunninghams Gap for years and always wanted to explore it.
A fantastic hike with lots to see including rainforest, winding paths along the exposed ridge, and finally to the top of the mountain with sheer cliffs and rocky outcrops.
This trail was all about the absolutely incredible views at the top overlooking the Great Dividing Range, Cunninghams Gap and Moogera Dam.
A couple of small snakes on the path, but they disappeared pretty quickly when startled.

Wednesday hike No 1:
Headed to Main Range National Park on my through to Giraween and did the short, but sweet 'Rainforest Circuit' at the top of Cunninghams Gap.
A very kid friendly track at only 1.6km with great views of Moogerah Dam.

Just when I think Lamington National Park can't get any better, it blows me away again and again...
Completed Ship's Stern Circuit this morning and it was just amazing!
Heading there mid week with less people certainly made a difference with heaps of wildlife around including pademelons, lyrebirds, land mullet and a lace monitor.
I'll be heading back again in September to do the extended Circuit to include Dave's Creek and the Coomera Circuit.
