South Burnett Music Awards

South Burnett Music Awards Celebrating South Burnett's live music and raising money for youth access to music .

28/06/2025

On Tuesday, Warren Gould from the South Burnett Music Awards kindly donated an electric violin to the College. The South Burnett Music Awards raise funds to buy or refurbish instruments, which they donate to students and schools to foster a love of music. Thank you Mr Gould for another generous donations; our students are already lining up to play it.

As you may have seen last night, yesterday we finally presented this Yamaha saxophone to Angelina Blanch from Kingaroy State High School at Musicians Oasis for the Jeff Connor Scholarship Bursary. This is the second instrument we’ve handed over at the shop this year already, and we don’t plan on stopping yet!
Introduced this year, the Jeff Connor Scholarship Bursary is awarded to South Burnett students in years 7-10 to enable them to continue with their musical journey when their financial situation may prevent them from reaching their potential. This bursary consists of $2000 to be put towards a new instrument - the remaining amount goes toward private lessons for the student.
Nominated by Matt Phillips - 2025’s Inductee to the South Burnett Music Hall of Fame and otherwise fantastic music teacher - Angelina is very deserving of this bursary and new saxophone (which she has decided to name Jeff!!!) and we wish her the best of luck in her senior schooling (and beyond) musical journey!
Thank you again to Jeff Connor for your valuable and generous contributions to the South Burnett Music Awards and this bursary award. Thank you also to Brett from Musicians Oasis for assisting to source these instruments, and for your valuable contributions to the South Burnett Music Awards.

Yesterday, we were lucky enough to be able to present this wonderful student with a new Grassi trumpet from Musicians Oasis. Channing is about to be a high-schooler, and he was overjoyed to receive this instrument allowing him to participate in the instrumental bands. 🎺
Once again thank you to Musicians Oasis for sourcing the trumpet, thank you to Channing and his family for accepting this, and to all of you, our audience, and our sponsors, for making this possible in the first place. This is what the South Burnett Music Awards are all about. 💛🎵
