My friend .ayesha_ She’s one of those people who glow — vibrant, magnetic — but there’s a quiet strength underneath it all.
Raising two kids largely on her own has given her a kind of maturity that doesn’t dim her colour, it deepens it.
I tried to honour both in this portrait.

Medium: oil pastel on canvas

A special first commission: restoring Our Lady of China, an outdoor shrine at a Catholic retreat centre.
It was an honour to bring new life to this piece — to preserve its story while keeping the spirit of the original intact.

The original painting is done by an unknown french artist,
Shrine sculpture and painting done by approx. 10 years ago,

Balanced restoration and renewal by Narsha Kang :)

💙 After working with warmer tones, I wanted to see how the same approach with gold leaf would live against deep blue. The result feels like the body suspended in water — weightless, glowing, almost dissolving into the background.

✨ Bit of an experiment with some gold leaf I’d had tucked away in a drawer for ages. I wasn’t sure what effect it would bring, but the wrinkles from applying it and the shifting reflections caught me by surprise — they feel almost skin-like. Excited to dig deeper into this direction.
