Quilt Central

Quilt Central An online journal from a patchwork addict This continued well into my late teens. After the birth of my first son, I was re-introduced to patchwork.

My love of textiles was kindled in the mid 1970's when my grandmother (a dressmaker) and my mum would spend hours making my clothes and ballet costumes. I was fortunate to have access to a fabulous textile department at my first high school, which was where I first dabbled in quilt making, but textiles took a back seat to a radio career for many years. Now my boys are grown and I sew regularly wit

h my mum, who is a prolific quilt maker, specialising in English paper piecing. We relish every opportunity to share our love of patchwork.

So lovely to see my quilt on display.

Twenty years ago I started collecting red and white fabrics to make an Ohio Star quilt. Ten rows of ten stars, all different fabrics. Two babies, six house moves and an international relocation interfered with my plans to finish it, but right now it’s my priority one. Machine pieced and hand quilted. Can’t wait to see it done.

Friendship round robin. Started about 10 years ago. Finished last night.

Dragged this one out tonight. Not sure what to do with it next. Another round? Quilt and bind?

Getting there! The ribbons are to help me see the rectangle that it will eventually be. I’m currently making 5 more green based rounds to go around the green/orange shape. Then I just need to appliqué the whole thing onto strips of fabric to square it up.

Still working on my kaleidoscope quilt top. Squaring it up is taking aaages but so worth it.

Finally bound these two quilts *sigh* just in the nick of time to be able to claim them as completed in 2014.
