A community art space which operated in the heart of Benalla, originally in Bridge Street, and for the last two years in Carrier Street, North East Artisans closed for business on August 31, 2022. NEA's Gallery Shop provided a space for the artisans of north east Vic to display their work and an opportunity for the community to shop locally. NEA ran art and craft workshops, mentored emerging art

ists, provided space for different community groups to meet, held or partnered in community events, and provided small studio spaces at the Bridge Street location. Workshops were also offered by local artisan who exhibited in the NE.A Gallery Shop or were involved in NE.A in other ways. NEA survived as a non-profit community organisations for almost eight years, which is quite a feat for an arts cooperative, however the pandemic and difficulties in finding suitable, affordable accommodation, contributed to the decision to curtail operations on August 31 2022. Thank you to all who supported North East Artisans over the years - artisans, volunteers, customers and all who connected with NEA in some way!
