Arting From Afar with Lee and Rachel 2.0 Week 7

Welcome to Arting From Afar with Lee and Rachel, Week 7.
Today we are catching up with our Week 6 prompts and how we have been keeping busy in lockdown. This lockdown number 6 for Melbourne had been a tiring one for us all. Even though in theory it has given me more time for art, it doesn't seem like I had that much time in the end. I do know one thing though, these sessions with Rachel keep me sane and foster the connection we humans so desperately are missing in these lockdowns.
For this weeks Arting From Afar, we have split our sheet into 2 sections and will work on each section for 3 days. The colours we used in our backgrounds were Burnt Sienna, Sap Green and Cobalt Blue Hue. The paper I used was Bockingford watercolour paper
We drew the prompts for the first 3 days and they are
Stamp
Glaze
Resist.

If you are following along, don't forget to tag us and use the hashtag #artingfromafar so we can share.

Welcome to Week 3 of our Arting from afar series. We start with a recap of last weeks prompts and then began with taping our paper into 6 equal parts. This week the chosen palette was Magenta, Light Turquoise/Aqua and Yellow and I used Art Spectrum 400gsm acrylic paper, A3.
You don't need to commit to a full series, just grab your paints and join in when you can. As per usual, we will each pick a prompt for the day.

Lee and Rachels Arting from afar. Week 2 Day 1 - a catchup and background

Welcome to the second week of our Arting from afar series. This video begins with a catch up about last weeks art challenge. We discuss what we liked and what took us out of our comfort zone, how the paper held up and how we generally felt about the whole series.
Then we move on to this weeks series, the supplies we are using with a paint along video of how we create our background for the coming week
As usual, please feel free to join in at any time and post your photos in the comments below.
And if you have a prompt that you would like us to use please add to the comments and we will make sure we use it this week.

Art is medicine, it is a moving meditation and it is nourishment for your soul.
If this is your first time with us, we will be picking a prompt each day to use for our art blocks that have been created from todays background. We will both be using the same prompt so it will be fun to see what we both come up with. The idea here is to have a daily art practice, regardless of the time that is available. It can be as little as 5 minutes or an hour but regardless, it is a practice that is an essential part of my wellbeing toolkit. Why not make it yours?

Lee Clements Art

Good morning beautiful artists from all around the world. True blue dec artists inc has been a bit quiet of late. No doubt most of you are finding your way in our new world of COVID-19. Two of our local artist Lee Clements Art and Art By Rachel Baker have got together to share a project which highlights no matter what style or level of artists you are you can create something wonderful. Please follow their journey , a different prompt is posted everyday for 7 days. Feel free to work along side them and share your artwork. Enjoy!

So, as Victoria enters COVID lockdown Mk II for at least 6 weeks, Rachel and I decided to do something together to get us through. It's been 6 months since we have caught up face to face and we had just started organising a coffee and chat when everything changed again.
We each have very different styles but are going to use the same prompts each day. Today was laying down a background using primary colours plus white. We will then have a new prompt each day to complete the 6 art blocks during the week.
As you will see this is the first time we have recorded a Zoom meeting and there were a few techinical issues but we got there in the end and had a lot of fun.
We'd love you to follow along when you can. Each day we will post photos of the block that we have completed. Please share your photos in each days post.

I'm a bit late in posting but would like to thank and congratulate our members who took part in and sold paintings at this year's Melbourne International Flower and Garden Show. Without your support our participation in this event would not be possible.
Personally I would like to thank Rachel Baker who helps me every year to setup and pack down our exhibition, particularly this year when family emergency called me interstate for the final weekend of the show. Thank you also to Gemma and Alana Baker who helped with duty and pack down.
Let's look forward to next year's show.

I just checked in to TBDA to see if anything was happening and came across Lee and Rachel painting. It was lovely to see familiar faces. The conferences in Echuca and Moama were the happiest of times in my painting career and now so long ago. For the record, I still teach small classes in my "Gumdale Cottage" studio. Of late I have drawn my 2 sets of Grandparents in Graphite, plus several small works. Also how can I be notified of postings in TBDA?
The Sayville Village Improvement Society and we are hosting our first ever art contest, Art In the Park. We are in search of artists to enter. Each selected artist will be supplied a wheel barrow to create their own art sculpture. The Art pieces will be placed in the different parks around the town of Sayville and auctioned of at our Annual Summerfest in August 2020. There are cash prizes of up to $500 dollars that will be awarded. For more information, please visit our website at SVIS.online/art.html. Here is a copy of our advertising poster. I hope you can share this with other members of the Art community. Word of mouth is our best method of communication. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
I greet you and I share this video waiting for you, it's a technique designed for you with love called "Golden Visions", so you can prepare your Christmas details.
