The children in the INVENT workshops have all chosen to paint a design on canvas & have been working on these for the past 2 weeks. They've worked independently on these - designing their creations, mixing their own colours and exploring the use of paint on canvas. I love how confident they are in the choices they make about their art pieces.

Next week, our inspiration will be Mother's Day 🙂 for the little ones, it's a great one for the dads, grandparents or other special friends to come along to if possible, but of course our mums are welcome too (they'll just have to close their eyes 😉).

Last workshop for the term today & our littlest artists made some noise! Today's inspiration was SOUND. We stomped around in our bubble wrap boots and then made drums, tambourines, guitars and shakers. So much fun to be had at home with these creations during the holidays 😉

~ Art Using Food ~

Last week our little artists explored art using food. There were vegetable prints, lava lamps (oil), corn painting and pasta pictures!

Yesterday was all about paper! We made marble paper, created our own puzzles using paper plates, painted watercolour doilies and used pieces of coloured & tissue papers to make pictures.
Children in the 'Invent' workshops have been exploring something for a few weeks now & will finish them next session - keep an eye out for photos of these masterpieces in the next couple of weeks!

Another great day! Weather was a little better this week so we took advantage of that and got outside ☀️
The inspiration this week was 'Hands Off'. The children were encouraged to paint without using their hands/brushes. Some couldn't resist the urge to get their hands & feet messy again though 😉

A conversation with this little superstar ⭐️ was one of the highlights of the workshops for me last week!
Whilst she was painting the shape of her body, A accidentally dropped a splat of paint in the wrong spot & was a little bit worried about it. This led to such a great conversation with all of the children about how there are no mistakes in art. A then decided to turn her splat into a beautiful flower on her skirt. I love that there is no 'right' or 'wrong' in art. And this little conversation has given me great inspiration for experiences in the next few weeks! 🙂

As this week's inspiration was 'bodies', one of the experiences that children could choose to do was painting only with their hands and feet! I didn't see any of the adults do this one... Maybe next time 😉

We always begin each session with an experience as a group before the children break off and choose their own 'adventure'. This week's inspiration was BODIES!
