We were deeply saddened to learn last week of the passing of internationally acclaimed Australian author, poet, essayist and librettist, David Malouf AO, aged 92. David wrote across fiction, non-fiction, poetry, libretti and plays, and his contribution to Australian literature is immeasurable. David was a passionate supporter of the arts and of Adelaide Writers’ Week and served on the AWW Advisory Committee for many years. We extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.

Read more about David’s contributions to Australian letters here:

Erudite and urbane, David Malouf — perhaps most famous for his portrait of mid-century Brisbane in his 1975 novel Johnno — will be fondly remembered for his immeasurable contribution to Australian letters.
