This original painting by Catherine Fitz-Gerald has us feeling sentimental.

"My mother made this gown of French ribbon lace, loving it’s textural, sinuous curves and wore it when she presented The Festival Theatre the Ruby Award for Best Festival. Why pair it with figs? Because she loves them and a friend gave me these three from her tree, especially for her. I had only moments to create the composition before Mum gleefully ate the figs." - Catherine Fitz-Gerald

“I love experimenting with collage as paper creates great textures. I photocopied and enlarged some drawings I drew of roses. Once enlarged I glued them onto mdf base and then added ink and acrylic paint to finish.” - Evie Hassiotis

You may have seen the Highly Commended work of Shop SALA artist Jorji Gardener in the 2026 Waterhouse Natural Science Art Prize at the South Australian Museum.

With a background in horticulture and botany, as well as a life-long love of the natural world it is no surprise that Jorji’s art practice revolves around the natural environment. The Adelaide Hills local works across printmaking, drawing, and installation, with a focus on natural history, flora, and fauna.
