Aleksey Igudesman is known as a violinist, composer, conductor, film maker and entrepreneur. Igudesman performs concerts around the world, composes music for movies, working with Hans Zimmer, John Malkovich, Roger Moore and other people who are less famous, but just as great… He plays on a Santo Seraphin violin from the year 1717, which is kindly loaned to him by ERSTE BANK. His compositions are published by Universal Edition and have been performed worldwide, often with him as a soloist and conductor. Igudesman has written for and performed as a soloist on several movie soundtracks and has directed several feature length documentaries, such as Noseland and Breaking Beethoven. He has worked closely with Hans Zimmer on numerous movies, including “Sherlock Holmes” which received an Oscar nomination for the Best Original Score. Igudesman performs in the duo IGUDESMAN & JOO. Their clips have been watched on YouTube over 45 million times and as a duo, they have performed with Gidon Kremer, Julian Rachlin, Janine Jansen, Viktoria Mullova, Emanuel Ax, Joshua Bell and Yuja Wang among many others. Together with Julia Rhee, Aleksey Igudesman is the co-founder of ‘Music Traveler’, an app and online platform which allows musicians to book practice rooms anywhere any time. In 2021 Music Traveler has launched a streaming site for musicians to earn money through the tickets sales.

I had an incredible time in Ireland—jamming, fiddling and learning more about traditional Irish music! 🇮🇪🎻

I first learned these two reels more than 30 years ago in Killarney, but somehow never knew what they were called. After playing them with some fantastic trad musicians in Sligo—including a Japanese trad fiddler!—I finally discovered their names: "Last Night’s Fun" and "Toss the Feathers."

I’ve already written a violin duet book called Celtic & More, and for 2028 I'm planning Irish & More. Until then: fiddling, research and plenty more jamming!

I also realised that Irish trad is a little like jazz: everyone knows the tunes—and then starts subtly playing around with them.

Recorded live with at , featuring the magical voice of and the enchanting violin playing of .tirsu.

We loved bringing this piece to life onstage with its special choreography, but the music has plenty of magic all on its own. With and the entire orchestra performing as both choir and instrumentalists, it became something truly extraordinary.

And there’s more to come: the complete live album, From Zimmer to Strauss, will be released on 2 October!

Tonight, the series marathon from the Lüneburg Heath begins! 🛢️

From 8:15 p.m., NDR will broadcast the first two episodes of the six-part series Schwarzes Gold, directed by Nina Wolfrum and Tim Trachte. Episodes 3–6 follow on Saturday, including the television premieres of Episodes 5 and 6.

I am incredibly proud that the soundtrack, composed by Hans Zimmer and me, has won the OPUS KLASSIK 2026 Award for Best Soundtrack! 🏆🎶

The soundtrack is available everywhere now. Set during the oil boom in the Lüneburg Heath around 1900, the series tells a gripping story of greed, betrayal and the dream of sudden wealth—as an entire region is transformed into a German “Wild West.” It explores the destructive force of boundless selfishness, but also the courage to stand up against injustice.

As part of the wonderful Festival in Litschau, Austria, we performed on magical open-air stages hidden throughout the woods. 🌲🎻

I joined 16(!) performances with various members of —sometimes jamming, sometimes soloing, and sometimes… simply taking all the credit without doing very much.

When you have a musician like onstage, you’re not really needed. You just clap along enthusiastically and pretend it was all your idea. 😂

🎻 Don’t Underestimate Für Elise! 🤯

Two centuries later, Beethoven is still causing trouble. He just outsourced some of it.

Aleksey Igudesman’s wildly imaginative take on Beethoven’s classic, For A Lease, has taken on a life of its own.

Originally created for Beethoven NOW, Igudesman’s acclaimed show that reimagines Beethoven for the modern world, For A Lease asks a simple question: What might happen if Beethoven’s music escaped the concert hall and started having a little too much fun?

What began as a playful reinvention of Für Elise is now available in multiple versions: as a violin duet in Igudesman’s Beethoven & More collection, as a string quartet, a piano quintet, and even as a full orchestral showpiece like the one featured here.

What a fantastic night, jamming with .s_official, , .landymore and my brother Leon on a new song of mine called "Kalmibyebye"! 🎻🌍

It will be published next year by as part of my new violin duet book, Africa & More.

spent a month travelling through Africa—learning, researching and soaking up inspiration for the book. And I absolutely love parties like this, where everyone simply gets together and makes music!
