I’ve been lucky to do a little exploring on recent concert trips. A day off in Taipei meant a private (and inexpensive) tour with a wonderful guide through the Viator app (I use it often and no, I don’t do promotions so this recommendation is entirely genuine 🤗) From the Taipei 101 to beautiful temples to a bustling night market, it was a beautiful day to explore and enjoy and learn! 🙏🎻🥰

Some great Hawaii show pics by the wonderful photographer Alden Fukushima - and a couple candids toward the end! Will always love playing the Blue Note Hawaii, onstage and off! I spent a couple years in Honolulu as a baby - my first solid food was poi (and so was Quest’s!) - I am happiest near the water, so playing concerts and being in tropical heaven on my downtime is the best of both worlds! 🏝️🎻💃🥰

A little banter before the new opening of Chris Botti’s gorgeous duet version of “Emmanuel” - this was at the Sydney Opera House last week - iconic venue! 🇦🇺🦘🙏 I have played Emmanuel with Chris in almost every show we have ever done, so when I suggested trying a different intro for this beloved song, I wasn’t sure how he would feel or react. He generously said “sure!” and I am enjoying both the freedom/trust to try new things and of course the dramatic and beautiful harmonies (thank you julius rodriguez !) .. if it sounds familiar, you are right! Let me know if/how you recognize it! 😘

Love this simple, beautiful “Deborah’s Theme” by Morricone that I sometimes play with Chris Botti. This clip is from Hawaii last week but we did play this on the late show last night at Blue Note Tokyo! 2 more nights here then off to China and Australia.. Loving the time in Tokyo onstage and off! 🥰💃🎻🍣🙏

Revisiting some songs I recorded many years ago!! I am obsessed with this haunting melody from Barber Violin Concerto’s second movement, but unless you listen to classical music, you probably have never heard it.. So the concept of my first album was to take some beautiful classical songs and “re-package” them into shorter, more audience friendly versions and hopefully have a wider audience. This was a passion project I did with Mike Valerio (in his living room 🤗) and this song has the gorgeous piano playing of ! Hope you enjoy this snippet!!
P.S. Check out Hilary Hahn’s recording to hear a fantastic version and probably my favorite oboe solo to start off the 2nd mvmt (all other suggestions invited!)

Throwback to a performance with the incredible flutist of Carmen Fantasy as a duet! A favorite part of touring with is the occasional opportunity to arrange something new - I simply loved poring over the score and adapting the flute version of this piece to include violin! And thank goodness the end section was in the same key and form as the Sarasate violin arrangement, and I didn’t have to play the thirds section- lol! 😂 We only played this on one tour years ago but maybe again someday! 🤞🏼💃
