"Elsa Janulidu shines as her maid Suzuki, delivering a performance rich in subtle nuances - especially in the emotional Flower Duet, where she and Eugenia Dushina create wonderfully harmonious singing together."

Today marks the birthday of the great German composer Richard Wagner (22.05.1813 - 13.02.1883), a revolutionary artist who transformed the history of opera forever. Through his monumental music dramas, innovative orchestration, and the concept of the Gesamtkunstwerk, Wagner united music, poetry, philosophy, and stagecraft into a completely new artistic vision.
One of the most moving moments in his repertoire is Waltraute’s aria "Höre mit Sinn" from Götterdämmerung. In this dramatic scene, Waltraute pleads with Brünnhilde in desperate urgency, and Wagner’s music captures both prophetic darkness and profound human emotion.

"Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I am desolate and afflicted. The troubles of my heart are enlarged: O bring thou me out of my distresses. Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins. O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee." Psalm 25:16-18,20

Sergei Vasilyevich Rachmaninoff (1 April 1873 - 28 March 1943) was a Russian composer, virtuoso pianist and conductor. Rachmaninoff is widely considered one of the finest pianists of his day and, as a composer, one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music. In “A Dream” op. 38 no. 5, Rachmaninoff responds ingeniously to poet Fyodor Sologub’s images of disembodied dreaming. His atmospheric piano part uses various bell-like sounds to set the scene for the soaring vocal lines. (wikipedia, parlancechamberconcerts.org)
