We invite you to visit Traces of Now, a group exhibition presenting works by artists who have participated in our residency programme, shown alongside selected pieces from the Foundation’s collection.

On this exhibition you can find works by Adrino Cangombe ( ) , Eltina Gaspar ( ) , Michel Onésio ( ) and Luís Santos ( ) from the residency programme, Ana Silva ( ), Binelde Hyrcan ( ) and Felix Shumba ( ) from the collection.

The Open Studio of Sheila Ramirez [ ] and Gilda Barros [ ] marked the culmination of a 10-week residency shaped by immersion, listening, and experimentation.

Working across installation, video, sound, and textiles, both artists challenged and expanded their practices through different formats of exploration.

November was a month of transition and new beginnings for us. At its centre was our talk series Archives of the Time, created as part of the 50th anniversary celebrations of Angola’s independence.

Through meaningful intergenerational conversations moderated by Adriano Mixinge [ ] with the guests artists Álvaro Cardoso, Iris B. Chocolate [ ], Kiluanji Kia Henda [ ], and the curator Suzana Sousa [ .sousa40 ], we reflected on memory, history and the evolution of artistic production in Angola.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to these important exchanges. ✨

Over the past 10 weeks the artists in residency Sheila Ramirez ( ) and Gilda Barros ( ) immersed themselves in processes of listening to the body, exploring territories, and engaging with the knowledges that move through them.

On December 3, from 5:30 to 8:00pm, we will open the doors of our new studio for the public to experience the projects developed during the residency.

Applications are open to emerging artists from Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Moçambique and São Tomé e Príncipe, until tomorrow, November 10, at 10:00pm (Luanda time).

Our 10-week residency offers access to a shared living and working space, a production fee to support the development of your project and research during the residency, and individual mentoring sessions with the curators on our Artistic Committee.
