EisFjord EisFjord | August 30 | DiliRock Main Stage
❔ Who came up with the band’s name, and why didn’t anyone stop them?
▫️There were plenty of objections — the name definitely wasn’t born in five minutes. We went through dozens of options, trying to find a word that would sound the way our music does.
We wanted to combine northern restraint, a sense of ice, air, and open space with what we ourselves feel in our songs. That’s how EisFjord appeared: Eis means “ice” in German, and fjord is Scandinavian.
❔ Which famous musicians or bands inspire you?
▫️The power and riffs of Rammstein, the emotional depth of Radiohead, Björk’s strangeness, the electronic aesthetics of Depeche Mode, and the atmosphere of Massive Attack. We’re interested in finding our own sound at the intersection of rock, ambient, and electronic music.
❔ What’s the vocalist’s favorite jam? This is important.
▫️Himbeermarmelade. Yes, specifically in German.
❔ Tell us one fact about the band that sounds made up but is actually true.
▫️We create our music using custom guitars designed and built by hand by our guitarist, while the vocalist paints them, turning each instrument into a unique work of art.
❔ What beer—or any other drink—absolutely has to be in your hand during your DiliRock set?
▫️Johannisbeerschorle — provided, of course, that you can pronounce it to the festival bartender.
❔ If your music were food, what would it be?
▫️Steak with wild berries and truffle ash.
❔ If your band ever gets banned, what will it be for?
▫️For exceeding the permitted concentration of air and space between the notes. Experts still can’t explain how it got in there.
❔ What are the chances your drummer disappears before the festival is over?
▫️Disappear? No. Get lost behind the drum kit? Entirely possible.
