The poem leaves the page differently than it arrives.
Four Fridays ago, I walked into Warehouse 56 carrying words that had mostly lived on the page.
Over the course of Spoken Commons, those words were challenged, reshaped, spoken aloud and finally shared with a room full of listeners.
Thank you for creating a space where writers could experiment, grow and be witnessed.
And thank you for your generosity, insight and encouragement throughout the journey.
Last Friday's performance brought together 32 voices from different countries, cultures and experiences. For a few hours, stories dissolved the distance between strangers. What began as individual pieces of writing became something collective.
As someone preparing to publish my first poetry collection, this experience arrived at exactly the right time. It reminded me that poems are not only meant to be written. They are meant to be heard.
Grateful for the people, the conversations and the courage shared in that room.
Until the next chapter.
