Curated by Jessica Cerasi

Skin of Dreams, the first mid-career retrospective of British multidisciplinary artist Shezad Dawood, brings together over two decades of his visionary practice.

Working across painting, sculpture, film, textiles and digital media, Dawood explores the intersections of memory, ecology, identity, technology and imagined worlds, creating works where different histories and realities converge.

Presented at Abu Dhabi’s Cultural Foundation, Skin of Dreams offers an immersive journey through the artist’s richly layered universe—where reality and imagination continuously blur.

Theme of The Art Circle Award 2026

On Mending
​
In a world that is becoming increasingly broken, what does it mean to mend… a city, a body, a people, a planet? Especially as the breaking rages on.
​
Mending is not restoration, nor is it the total act of repair. Mending admits that it can never erase a wound, nor does it pretend that the breakage never occurred. It is the act of remaining present inside destruction and making something, a stitch, a mark, a colour, a form that insists on continuity. Mending is both an act of love and an act of resistance.

Under the theme “On Mending”, this competition invites UAE national and resident artists to submit their work and showcase their talent on a prominent platform.
